Beaujolais Nouveau Festival in Tokyo

Beaujolais Nouveau Festival in Tokyo

On November 9, more than 100 men and women who love wine, in a very special event and a very red festival in Tokyo, celebrated global selling of the red wine Beaujolais Nouveau wine.

In this festival which is held every year, on the last Thursday of November, which is also named after the famous red wife Beaujolais Nouveau, guests gather in a pool which is colored red and drink red wine. Also, every day, 3 bottles of red wine are poured into the swimming pool.

As the owners of the spa claim, the red wine pool can make your body relax. Those who were participating this year’s festival, had a moment of silence for those who were killed in the Paris attacks.

Beaujolais nouveau is a red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France. It is the most popular vin de primeur, fermented for just a few weeks before being released for sale on the third Thursday of November.

This "Beaujolais Nouveau Day" used to see heavy marketing, with races to get the first bottles to different markets around the globe. Beaujolais nouveau is made from the Gamay noir à Jus blanc grape, better known simply as Gamay. The grapes must come from the Beaujolais AOC, with those of the ten "cru" appellations excluded.
